Maya’s piece involve everyone that attends SOURCE. Not because it’s a large theatrical event or an over the top visual spectacle, but because face and body painting allows us to see things less for what nature gave us but for what we wish could be or more the Ora we give or perceive as human beings here and now. We can focus less on the outside, shed or society self and allow more of a raw spirit to become our image. Allowing us to actually be living, breathing works of art that we all bond with.
Maya has been an artist for her entire life, I feel that she connects with people on a level that can only be translated in paint form.
It has been asked that Maya paint people as they enter the gate to the festival. She has expressed desire to paint bodies and faces throughout SOURCE. In random places at random times. Both are creations of art that people are a part of, as well as everyone they interact with.
