Scholarships

SCHOLARSHIPS ARE CLOSED FOR CIRCUS OF DREAMS

SOURCE 2012 partial and full scholarships are funded entirely from contributions directed specifically for this purpose. See below to contribute.  Please look at the “Ways you can participate” before you apply.  Please apply as soon as possible as we will be unable to process scholarship requests after February 9. There will be NO Scholarships at the Gate.

Donations to the SOURCE 2012 Scholarship Fund:

Your money is how we share the costs of the infrastructure to make SOURCE happen. Any money made above and beyond goes towards making the festival happen next year and supporting the arts and our community year round. This is unlike most festivals on the planet- there is no big financial backer, we are all contributing our time, and nothing is for sale at the festival. To support scholarships, we ask for contributions beyond the membership dues. Click donate above to contribute.

Costs include:

  • The Location: Camp Keanae is an astounding set of structures (including a full kitchen and indoor bathrooms with hot showers) overlooking the Keanae Peninsula. We are talking the drive to Hana, views of whales, amazing waves rolling the Pacific,  green grass fields, and coco trees. (We do import lots of porta potties and encourage their use.  And also it may rain, read the survival guide.)
  • Infrastructure: Porta Potties, transportation, stages, audio equipment, lights, fuel, generators… etc.
  • Security: This is a high cost. We have the best security crew on Maui and have been working with them since the beginning. Brycyn’s crew works 24 hours.
  • Food: While we do receive donations from local farmers, we also need to buy lot’s of food. There is no vending in the festival so we all pitch in for fresh, diverse, artistic, local, organic and filling food.
  • Art Grants: This year we have contributed $3000 of our membership fees towards art projects at SOURCE selected through the art grants process.
  • Marketing: Website, flyers, promotional events. If we didn’t talk about it, no one would know!
  • Community: We throw events for kids, free classes, offer a community location (reSOURCE) to create and learn in. We give back to the location where we hold the festival and support the arts in our community.
  • No VIPs: Alot of the festivals you might see with costs under $200 offer higher rates with more privileges. At SOURCE everyone is a participant, there is no backroom designated for specific talent or VIPs… we are all VIPs.

Costs do not include entertainment. This is an entirely participant run event.

Please keep in mind that the price is as affordable as it is (few festivals include food and lodging in the price) not because we skimp but because we are not trying to make any profit and we are all contributing. Every single one of us has a contribution to make! We are simply sharing the cost among friends to gather and create and play and express. Zero commerce occurs inside the gates. Costs are not absorbed by offering vending. This is an entirely non-commerce event. No commercial promotion is allowed in printed form. Read up on the gift economy.

When you click the button you will be taken to paypal and your payment will go to source.imagica@gmail.com. All tickets will be made available at will call when you arrive at the festival.
