Miracles

Since the beginning of SOURCE, when 20 people sat in a circle and threw in $100 each to seed this project, we have never had a large financial backer. SOURCE is grassroots through and through. In an effort to expand our community we wish to invite people that we would dream of sharing this experience with. However, it can be a challenge to invite folks to join us when the cost of flights and membership can be out of the reach of some. This is the first year we are launching the SOURCE Miracle Fund and we hope you are inspired to contribute. Your contribution here will go 100% to the Miracle Candidates to get them to SOURCE.

We are an incubator for ideas. Everyone who attends the gathering comes in the spirit of respect, tolerance and avid curiosity and fun. We are magnetizing cutting edge artists from around the world. Because everyone who attends SOURCE brings a contribution, a gift to share, we think of it as an experience to learn and share as much as it is an opportunity to gift. It is more common than not, that by the end of SOURCE, art has become far more than the artist ever intended.

Nominees:

Nature Dreamweaver

Nature has been touring art and music festivals since 2006 and building nests and other various forms of art installations since 2007. He’s done over 100 installations at over 50 festivals, events, parties, weddings, and conferences. He built two permanent nests at Alex Grey’s Chapel of Sacred Mirrors this year.

Shamanic Dream Love Nests are human-sized (33′ in diameter) and built on the ground. They are built with intention in community and ceremony and based on sacred geometry. The #33 is master number and is related to devotion, healing, balance, harmony, and the upliftment of mankind, among other things. These sacred spaces are used as gathering spaces for ritual, ceremony, prayer, meditation, yoga, playing music, eating, and connection. They act as energetic acupressure points on the earth where people can commune with the spirit of the earth, feel held by the Mother, heal themselves, open themselves, and dream a vision into being. People are highly encouraged to interact with the nest in whatever way, shape or form that they are inspired.

Tinker

Tinker [False Profit, San Francisco] is a Bay Area based DJ/Producer representing some of the freshest beats coming out of the fertile west coast music scene.  Using tools of live sampling and performance within Ableton and her trusty APC, her playful sets have been described as beat-driven, melodic, glitch-y, and experimental. Appropriately nicknamed the “galaxy beat girl” and the “mind-and-genres-bender,” Tinker fuses an eclectic mix of hip-hop, 8-bit, wonky, breaks, cumbia, downtempo, future bass, and more in a single set.  She has a captivating presence, earned through years of dance and fire-performance, inspiring audiences to swoon at her lush sonics or dance like mad at her driving beats and bass.

Tinker is the resident laptop mistress of the long-standing and well-respected San Francisco arts collective False Profit. Performing everywhere from the esteemed Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and the Cal Academy of Sciences to dark and dank basement clubs in Berlin and the UK, she has shared the stage with Boxcutter, the Glitch Mob, Random Rab, EPROM,Tom Burbank, Take, Afta-1, Anenon, Deru, Eliot Lipp, Dr. Toast, Kid Kameleon, Lazer Sword, David Last, and more. She is a fast-blossoming producer in her own right and is currently working on her debut EP, producing tunes in the realm of Space Crunk and Instrumental Hip Hop meets Otherstep.

Tinker has developed quite a following on Maui and there are many Source attendees who would love to have this mischief-maker put smiles on faces and wiggles in the hips of her listeners at this year’s Source festival!  Check out her latest mixes to be convinced…
