Who’s Creating, Playing, Performing, and Presenting This Year?
There is no bill, no pre-released line-up marketed to sell tickets, no one is paid, and no artist is considered more important than any other artist. Participation is key. If you are looking to sit back and be entertained, this is not the festival for you.
However, if you are creative and looking to share your work or want to be actively inspired and push your own boundaries, SOURCE will give back to you tenfold. If you are curious and like to have fun, and want to share your love for life, this is the place to be. This is some of the most fun that happens on Maui and we look forward to sharing it with you.
SOURCE is an incubator. It is a place to try out new creative concepts with a group of 500 supportive, fun and curious participants. It’s a place for an artist to cross over to a new medium or push current mediums past old boundaries. It’s a place to saturate yourself in creative-inspired energy. It’s a place to heal and be healed, to make and show off interactive-artwork, to dance and play music, to meet cool people and party or reconnect with old friends. Over its first three years, SOURCE has been the birth of a number of novel projects, from presentations to performance, to music to installations and healers, that have gone on to travel the world.
Consider SOURCE a fundraiser for the arts. The festival is run by the community for the community. We believe that we have a better chance helping artists make money from their art in the long term by holding these 4 days outside of commerce. Musicians get healed. Healers eat art. Chefs interact with paintings. Artists listen to poetry. Poets learn in symposiums. Lecturers dance all night. And the world goes round becoming a better place to be.
Despite, well more likely because of the fact that we do not pay a big name to attract ticket buyers, we have been fortunate enough to share this festival with world class acts and world class people in an environment that fosters true sharing. So, while we cannot tell you who will be performing, presenting, healing or playing this year at SOURCE, we do know that based on the past, the collection of talent will please. And we hope you will be one of them.
Many Mahalos to Previous Festival Participants who have supported this vision and been so fun to play with. Add yourself. Thanks again: 2008-2010.
